We may be slightly biased, but there is genuinely nothing better than spending your summer in Spain. The temperature gets hotter, days get longer, and the towns and cities just have more of a buzz about them.
For those who already own Spanish property, it’s well worth knowing how to make the most of the summer months. After all, there is so much to do, see and enjoy. Read on for some of our highlights…
The weather
It’s impossible to write an article about summer in Spain without giving the weather a mention. Although Spain is sunny all year round, with many regions seeing on average well over 300 days of sunshine per year, you can’t beat the uninterrupted mid-summer weather.
For those with Costa Blanca property, you can expect to see average daily temperatures of 27°C, with highs in the 30s. In fact, wherever you own Spanish property along the South coast, you’ll be unlucky if you get on average more than 1 rainy day per summer!
It’s this stand-out weather that makes Spain such a hotspot for UK holidaymakers and expats. By the end of August last year, 12.9 million Brits had soaked up the sun visiting Spain. This is something well worth bearing in mind if you own Spanish property, as rental demand for your apartment or villa will be extremely high during the peak summer months, giving you a great opportunity to make some extra money.

Take part in your local fiesta
If you’re someone who loves being involved in all aspects of Spanish life, including taking part in local traditions and customs, a fiesta should definitely be part of your summer bucket list. Each region holds its own fiestas at different times of the year, but for those with Costa del Sol property, August brings with it the ‘Feria De Málaga’.
Known as one of the best fiestas in Spain, ‘Feria De Málaga’ is a week-long celebration that runs day and night in the heart of Costa del Sol. With no invitation needed, we highly recommend embracing all of the activities, celebrations and festivities that take place during this period. You’ll experience traditional Spanish music, dancing, bullfighting, plenty of food, drink, and much more.

Try something unexpected
It may be hard to believe, but just 100km from the beautiful beaches of the Andalusian coast are some of the best snow-covered mountains in Spain to ski on. The Sierra Nevada, a large, snowy mountain range, is one of the most popular skiing attractions in Southern Europe due to its 106.8 kilometers of ski slopes.
So if lounging on the beach is a bit too laid back for you, you’re not far at all from the adrenaline rush of extreme sports. Thrill-seekers could also brave the ‘Caminito del Rey’. Definitely not for the faint-hearted, this winding path on the side of the Malaga Mountains is known as one of the most dangerous routes on Earth.
Spain really does have something for everyone!
Give in to the tourist attractions
Popular tourist hotspots, such as beach resorts, attract hundreds of thousands of visitors per year for good reason. Although the idea of escaping to a more traditional, or quiet destination may seem appealing, there’s nothing quite like the hustle and bustle of being around people genuinely enjoying themselves on their holidays.
Playa de Levante is a great choice for people looking to spend their days on a Costa Blanca beach, and who aren’t worried about being around tourists. Featuring a pedestrianised promenade with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants, crystal clear sea, white sand and the opportunity to try out lots of different water sports, it’s easy to see why people flock to beaches such as this in the summer.
Spanish properties around here are in particularly high demand, but with prices from £100K, Costa Blanca property can be an affordable option for many.
