The benefits of owning a Costa Blanca property on the beach

Located along the South coast of Spain in the Alicante province, Costa Blanca’s name literally translates as ‘White Coast’. If you’re yet to visit the beaches for yourself, the name should give you a good indication of what you can expect to find! The superb white sandy beaches stretch for over 200km, giving visitors and those owning a Costa Blanca property plenty of space to enjoy the warm and sunny Mediterranean climate.

The beaches of Costa Blanca attract visitors from all over the world who want to enjoy their beauty. Whether that’s people choosing the region as their holiday spot of choice, or people who have relocated and made it their permanent home by buying their own Costa Blanca property.

This article takes a look at some of the highlights of the Costa Blanca beaches.

81 Blue Flag beaches

If you’ve already done some research on Costa Blanca, you will likely have seen the mention of ‘Blue Flag’ beaches. A beach gains a Blue Flag certification when it is deemed to meet a number of FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education) criteria, including standards for quality, safety, environmental education and information.

If you notice that a beach is a Blue Flag beach, it is a great indication that they uphold high environmental and quality standards, as this certification is by no means easy to get. Costa Blanca currently has a whopping 81 Blue Flag beaches, and Spain as a whole has more Blue Flag beaches than any country in the world. It’s no wonder that Costa Blanca property is in such high demand!

Beach variety

As mentioned above, the Costa Blanca beaches stretch across 200km, so as you can imagine, the scenery you can expect varies dramatically depending on the part that you visit. This is a fantastic benefit to take advantage of if you own a Costa Blanca property, as no two days at the beach have to be the same!

The North section of the Costa Blanca coastline is dominated by mountainous scenery that is home to several stunning nature parks. The beautiful mountains overlook classic white sandy beaches. Here you can also find hidden coves that are difficult to reach, but guarantee privacy in a fantastic natural setting. Perfect for a completely chilled day soaking up the beautiful scenery as well as the sun.

As you head South and enter the middle section of the coastline, you will notice that the landscape is much flatter, and is home to many more tourist hot spots and all-inclusive hotels. The flatter surface has allowed long, sandy stretches of beach to be developed that attract masses of tourists each year. Due to its popularity, you’ll find this area is far more built up, with many restaurants, shops, and a busy nightlife culture too.

The South of the Costa Blanca coastline offers a fantastic combination of the North and middle beaches. You can find both busy, tourist-friendly beaches, and private coves with natural environments offering privacy. Whichever you prefer, you can be guaranteed white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters.

What are the best Costa Blanca beaches to visit?

Although each beach along the Costa Blanca coastline is beautiful and brings their own charm, there are a few beaches that shouldn’t be missed if you own a Costa Blanca property.

Playa del Moraig is a beautiful Blue Flag beach that is comprised of a number of stunning coves protected by tall cliffs. This beach has an unparalleled natural beauty, with plenty of hiking trails and caves to explore. This beach is particularly popular for snorkelling and scuba diving due to the marine life that can be found in its crystal clear waters and undersea caves.

Playa de Levante is a great beach choice for families due to its pedestrianised promenade, and the presence of lifeguards all year round. Another Blue Flag beach, this one is perfect for spending all day soaking up the Spanish sun on its soft, white sand, or for swimming in its crystal clear sea.

Playa de la Fossa offers some of the most beautiful views in Costa Blanca. Whilst relaxing on the beach, you can enjoy views of the Penyal d’Ifac, a limestone outcrop emerging from the sea. If you’re planning a day trip to this beach, there is plenty of parking to make your trip more convenient. There are even boats in the harbour that offer fishing expeditions where you can try your hand at angling to catch some fresh fish – perfect for taking home to cook for dinner in your Costa Blanca property!

Costa Blanca property is a great investment

If you are lucky enough to own your own Costa Blanca property, another fantastic benefit of being so close to the wonderful beaches is the high rental potential. Spain continues to be the most popular tourist destination for Brits, with thousands of families seeking out warmer climates, especially during the UK school summer holidays.

During these times, the beaches, local restaurants and bars are understandably much busier, so if you fancy escaping the tourist seasons, there will always be people looking to rent your home – and often at a premium price. Renting out your property during these peak times is a great way to earn some extra spending money, or to pay off your mortgage quicker!
