Where is Murcia in Spain?

What is Murcia’s landscape like?

One of the reasons that Murcia is so popular is its varying geography. You could be in the hustle and bustle of a busy tourist beach one minute, in a traditional Spanish village centre the next, or visiting one of the region’s many nature parks or cultural heritage sites. Murcia really does have a lot to offer to suit all preferences.

Murcia’s Mar Menor is arguably one of the highlights of Spain’s South coast. It’s Europe’s largest salt lagoon, located to one side of a narrow strip of land called La Manga (the other side being the Mediterranean Sea).

La Manga features stunning white sands, with exclusive hotels and select amenities like restaurants, shops and sailing and diving schools – perfect for beachside living or holidays.

The qualities of the Mar Menor salt lagoon are said to contain many healing properties due to its climate and unique mineral concentration. This sees people travel from all over to bathe in the lake, looking to cure all manner of physical and psychological ailments. There’s even the opportunity to take part in an open air ‘mud therapy’ session, where you get covered in the medicinal muds of the Mar Menor!
